Capitol Latino

Politics, Culture, Reporters, Thieves

Two Julys ago, I was registering voters at the South Sore Line station in East Chicago when I approached a pick up truck, clipboard-in-hand, wearing a small blue Obama ’08 pin on my shirt to which the truck’s driver pointed and said, “Get that nigger away from me.”
I stopped, and offered, “You know, his mom’s white.”
“I don’t care. I ain’t havin’ no nigger president.”

The man was right, and he doesn’t. Barack Obama is the first black president of the United States, and the 44th white one.
